A break-in at the Jefferson Square Laundromat in De Soto early Monday morning (Feb. 8) netted only about $50 for the thief, but caused about $500 in damage to the business, De Soto Police Chief Rick Draper says.

Draper said someone “busted out a window and broke the front door of the laundromat” at 40 Jefferson Square.

A coin-pusher arcade game was the target.

“There was $500 damage for $50 in coins,” Draper said.

As of today (Feb. 9), the police had no suspects, but a witness did come forward.

“There was a witness who saw a man running across the parking lot with a crowbar at 3:53 in the morning, but he didn’t think it was suspicious enough to call the police,” Draper said.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call the De Soto Police Department at 636-586-3326.
