A cab driver was arrested in Crystal City Sunday night (March 5) after he allegedly ran a red light and the police officer who stopped him reportedly found drug paraphernalia in the cab.
The stop occurred about 10:48 p.m. on Truman Boulevard.
“The officer noticed the driver was acting nervous and the officer asked him to step out,” Crystal City Police Capt. Mike Pruneau said. “Inside the driver’s-side door he noticed a red straw with white powder. It was a pipe.”
Pruneau said another pipe was found in the vehicle. He said the first pipe appeared to be for marijuana and the second for methamphetamine. The officer also found a plastic bag with what appeared to be methamphetamine in the cab.
The driver is a 22-year-old Crystal City man. He was arrested and booked on the traffic charge and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. He was released pending application of warrants.
A passenger, also a 22-year-old man from the same address as the driver, was not held.
