The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the recent theft of an SUV left running outside the ZX gas station in the 5200 block of Warren Road in Imperial. The SUV was stolen about 10:15 p.m. June 22, the report said.
The victim said she parked the SUV in front of the gas station’s convenience store, leaving it unlocked with the keys inside and the engine running and went inside the store. A short time later, a silver four-door passenger vehicle pulled up next to the SUV, and a woman who was passenger in the vehicle exited and got inside the SUV and drove away with it, headed east on Miller Road, according to the report.
An iPhone, ID and photo albums were inside the SUV. The stolen items were valued at $200, the report said.
The woman suspected of stealing the SUV is white and had long, brown hair. She was wearing jean shorts and a black tank top, according to the report.
As of July 5, the SUV had not been recovered, and there were no arrests, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
