Arnold Police are searching for a 26-year-old Ferguson man who allegedly tried to strike two police cruisers with a car after he and another man reportedly stole a television from Walmart. No officers were injured in the incident, police reported.

Employees from the Walmart store, 2201 Michigan Ave., contacted police at about 11:10 a.m. Feb. 7 when two men allegedly left the store without paying for a 65-inch Samsung TV. The television was worth $648, the report said.

Two Arnold Police officers already were in the store parking lot when they were told the men were leaving in a red 2016 Dodge Dart. The officers located the car, turned on their cruisers’ lights and sirens and tried to stop the Dart, according to the report.

Police believe the Ferguson man was driving the Dart, and he allegedly drove toward the cruisers, forcing the officers to swerve out of the way to avoid being hit. The officers chased the car to I-55 but stopped the pursuit because of traffic conditions on the interstate, Arnold Police reported.

Officers believe the Ferguson man is connected to other thefts from area Walmart stores. The man was a Walmart employee, and he reportedly has worn an employee vest during other alleged thefts, the report said.

As of Feb. 17, police had not located the Ferguson man nor identified the other man with him. The TV also had not been recovered, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said. He asks anyone with information about the suspect or the Dart to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
