Eureka Police are investigating the theft of equipment valued at $19,868 from an unlocked SUV that was parked in a fenced-in lot outside Gershenson Construction Co., 2 Truitt Drive, Capt. David Wilson said.
The theft occurred between 4 p.m. May 2 and 8 a.m. May 3. An unlocked 2006 GMC Yukon was parked in the gated lot, but the gate’s lock was cut and a case containing a drone and two batteries, along with a blue box that had surveying equipment in it, were taken, police reported.
The stolen surveying equipment included a Spectra Precision-brand FOCUS 30 robot and a Spectra Precision-brand 3XR radio. The robot is valued at $13,110, and the radio is worth $6,088, according to the report.
The drone is a white and black Parrot Bebop 2 that has three white propellers and one black propeller, and the batteries are marked with a red sharpie. The drone is valued at $600, and the batteries are worth $70, the report said.
As of May 9, there were no suspects and none of the items had been recovered, Wilson said.
