The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is working with two other law enforcement agencies to identify suspects after a trailer with lawncare items that was stolen in Imperial was recovered in Bonne Terre, along with a pickup that was stolen in Desloge, authorities reported.
Deputies were called on April 22 to the 5000 block of Owls Nest Drive in Imperial when a man reported that his 2016 16-foot Express trailer was stolen. The man said an Exmark riding lawnmower, Grasshopper 725 riding lawnmower, Maruyama brush cutter and weed eater, two RedMax leaf blowers and a RedMax brush cutter and Weed eater were stored on the trailer, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office did not provide approximate values for the trailer or stolen items.
The surveillance video showed a white pickup near the victim’s home at about 4 a.m. April 22, according to the report.
On April 23, the Bonne Terre Police reported finding the stolen trailer along with the lawnmowers and a leaf blower in a field near Stormy Lane. The Bonne Terre Police also located a white 2007 Ford F-250 that was reported stolen from Premier Auto and Tire Dealership in Desloge between April 18-20, the report said.
The recovered trailer, lawnmowers and leaf blower were returned to the victim. However, none of the other lawncare equipment had been located as of April 25, Capt. Matt Moore said.
He also said the Sheriff’s Office and the Bonne Terre and Desloge Police Departments were still investigating the thefts. He asks anyone with information about the thefts to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
