A 54-year-old St. Louis man attempting to purchase a boat through a brokerage company was allegedly scammed out of nearly $30,000. The scam happened on April 10, and the victim reported in on April 23, Arnold Police reported.

The man contacted Arnold Police and said he had wired $29,900 from Enterprise Bank and Trust, 3944 Vogel Road, in Arnold to the company that was supposed to deliver a boat to his home in the 3900 block of Vogel Road. The man told police the boat was not delivered and he was unable to make contact with the company since transferring the money, a report said.

“This is the first we have heard of something of this nature in our department,” Major Brian Carroll said.

He said detectives are investigating the incident, but as of May 11, they had no leads.
