A 22-year-old St. Louis man was arrested in Eureka for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after he reportedly was driving erratically. The man refused to perform field sobriety tests, Eureka Police reported.
At about 12:50 a.m. July 5, an officer allegedly saw the man driving a 2012 Nissan Altima on East Fourth Street and swerving between the lanes. He was stopped near Hwy. 109 and the driver allegedly told the officer he was the only one still awake at a party and as driving to White Castle to get some food, the report said.
The officer reportedly allegedly smelled alcohol and said the driver appeared intoxicated. The driver was unable to find his proof of insurance and allegedly struggled to show the officer his driver’s license, according to the report.
The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for a sober driver. He was issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI and failing to drive in a single lane, Sgt. Michael Tapp said.
