Arnold Police arrested a 27-year-old St. Louis man who reportedly was found driving a stolen car. Also, illegal drugs allegedly were found in the car, a 2001 Mustang, police reported.
At about 7:40 p.m. June 14, an officer saw the Mustang without a year sticker on its license plate outside the Circle K gas station, 2001 Richardson Road. The officer checked on the license plate number and learned the plate was registered to a Chrysler Pacifica and the plate had been reported stolen March 23 in St. Louis, the report said.
The officer also discovered the Mustang had been reported stolen in St. Louis on March 19. In addition, the driver was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and St. Louis County Police on warrants for receiving stolen property, stealing, stealing of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, driving with a revoked license and tampering, according to the report.
After arresting the man, a police dog indicated there were illegal drugs in the car, and officers found substances believed to be marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia, in the Mustang, the report said.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for another law enforcement agency. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.
