Eureka Police arrested a 28-year-old St. Louis man for suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs. The man allegedly was passed out in a pickup near an intersection the MotoMart gas station, 5695 Fox Creek Road, police reported
Emergency medical service personnel allegedly saw the man in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado at about 10:35 p.m. Sept. 15 near the intersection of Six Flags Road and Fox Creek Road. A medic told officers the man was stopped well before the intersection, and the pickup was running and its emergency flashing lights were on, the report said.
The medic told officers the man woke up and drove to the gas station. They also told officers they had not given the man any medicine, according to the report.
Officers learned the man had recently been arrested several times for felony drug possession and driving while under the influence, the report said.
The man told the officers he did not drink any alcohol that day, but he had taken methadone, a medicine typically used to treat heroin dependence, according to the report.
The man allegedly appeared to be impaired, and he failed field tests. The officers arrested the man and took him to the Police Station, the report said.
While at the Police Station, the man allegedly told officers he had taken heroin, trazodone and methadone. He also said he had smoked marijuana, according to the report.
Officers transported him to SSM St. Clare Hospital in Fenton for treatment. After he was treated, he was released to a sober driver, the report said.
Eureka Police also issued the man a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for driving while under the influence, Lt. Brett Gritinni said.
