Carnell Robinson, 18, of St. Louis and at least one other person suspected of playing a role in a July 12 burglary at Mike’s Pawn and Jewelry in Imperial have been arrested, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Members of an FBI investigation task force arrested Robinson July 22 in north St. Louis County. As of today (Aug. 6), he was being held in the St. Louis County Jail, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
Another suspect also had been arrested. However, details of that man’s arrest were not available, Bissell said.
He said the Sheriff’s Office also is still trying to identify and locate at least one other suspect who reportedly could be seen in surveillance footage breaking into the pawn shop, 5636 Hwy. 61.
On July 14, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Robinson with first-degree burglary, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison, and five counts of stealing, each one a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, according to court records.
A probable-cause statement in the case said surveillance footage showed Robinson breaking a window and entering the pawn shop at 5636 Hwy. 61-67 with two other people. The three suspects then allegedly stole three Bushmaster AR-15 rifles, a Stevens .22-caliber rifle and a New England Firearms 20-gauge shotgun.
Sheriff’s Office investigators reportedly found a fingerprint matching Robinson’s on a case near where some of the guns were stolen, the report said.
“Our crime scene guys and fingerprint guys have done a great job,” Sheriff Dave Marshak said. “We’ve identified a lot of different suspects in different cases as a result of crime-scene work.”
