A 28-year-old St. John man reportedly pointed a gun at a 35-year-old Arnold woman during an argument at an apartment in the 1200 block of Airglades Drive in Arnold. The man allegedly broke into the home the next day to take items that belonged to him and a St. John woman, Arnold Police reported.
The 35-year-old woman lives in the apartment and reportedly was letting the St. John man stay there. She reportedly told her mother the man pointed a gun at her on July 7 and would not leave, and the mother called police on July 8 to report the incident, according to Arnold Police.
Officers met the mother at the apartment, and after no one answered the door, the mother let the officers inside. They allegedly found the man and a 27-year-old St. John woman in one of the rooms at the apartment, the report said.
While police were talking to the man and woman from St. John, a dog got out of the apartment through an open door. The St. John woman went to find the dog, and a short time later, the man and the officers also went to look for the dog, according to the report.
The man had left the apartment without shoes, and after about 20 minutes, he returned to the apartment with the officers to get his shoes and then allegedly ran away. Then, police could not find the St. John woman, the report said.
The Arnold woman returned home after the St. John man and woman were gone, and she told police she had argued with the man the previous night because he had pawned her TV without her permission. She said the man pointed a gun at her, and she ran away and didn’t call the police because she was scared. She also said she returned to the apartment later that night and the man and St. John woman were still in the apartment, according to the report.
Officers allegedly found a Kimber gun in the apartment, along with a bullet hole in one of the walls. The Arnold woman said the man accidently shot the wall about three weeks earlier and she reported it to the police. However, the officers could not find any record of a report about a gun being fired at the apartment, Arnold Police reported.
After the officers left, the Arnold woman allegedly was given permission by her landlord to change the lock on her door. At about 4:30 p.m. that day, the woman called police again because the St. John man allegedly returned to the apartment and couldn’t open the door with the key he had and started yelling her name and telling her to let him in. The woman said she called 911 and hid in the bathroom, the report said.
She told police she heard someone hitting the door, and it eventually opened. She said when she came out of the bathroom, no one was in the apartment, and the officers were coming up the stairs to her home, according to the report.
The woman said the man’s and the St. John woman’s belongings were gone. The Arnold woman said her Google Chromebook, valued at about $250, also was missing, the report said.
As of July 15, police had not located the man or St. John woman, and the Chromebook was still missing, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
Valentine said the man has been charged with second-degree assault and first-degree burglary, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Anyone with information about the man’s location is asked to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
