The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of fiber optic wire, which belonged to Spectrum. The wire was cut from utility poles in the 1300 block of Hwy. 21 southwest of De Soto, police reported.

A Spectrum employee told deputies there were reports of service outages in the area at about 3 p.m. April 7. When employees arrived, they saw the cut wire, the report said.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide an estimated value for the stolen wire.

As of April 11, none of the wire had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
