A 43-year-old De Soto man was left fighting for his life after he was shot April 22 at Shropshire Park on South Fourth Street. The victim identified the alleged shooter as a 20-year-old Festus man, and authorities were still searching for him on Tuesday, April 26, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The victim was shot several times, and after the shooting, the suspect fled the scene, Lewis said.
“He (the victim) said the man who shot him drove off in a black car,” Lewis said.
The incident occurred about 8:20 p.m., he said.
Lewis said officers administered first aid to the victim until Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District personnel arrived and took over.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
