The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 50-year-old Imperial man suspected of stealing a firearm from a recreational vehicle parked behind a home in the 2000 block of Hwy. 61 in the Festus area. The theft occurred June 2 but was not reported until about a week later, the report said.
It looked like the door to the RV was left unlocked and that’s how the culprit got inside. A .22-caliber handgun valued at about $100 was stolen, according to the report.
As of June 15, the suspect had not been charged. The pistol was recovered and returned to the victim, Moore said.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
