The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to identify a man who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint at the Polo Downs Apartments in the Fenton area. The robbery happened just after 11:10 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) at the woman’s apartment in the 1100 block of London Circle Lane, a report said
The victim told deputies she was in the parking lot at the apartment complex unloading her vehicle and a man approached her as she was carrying items to her apartment. The man “engaged her in casual conversation” and followed the woman to her apartment, according to the report.
As the woman opened her apartment door, the man allegedly pushed her inside, displayed a firearm and demanded the woman give him money and her cell phone. He took the woman’s purse and fled, the report said.
The woman, who was not hurt, had dropped her cell phone during the robbery, so the man did not get away with that, Cpl. Matthew Moore said.
No other robberies like that one have been reported in the area, the Sheriff’s Office said today (Sept. 21) in a written statement.
The victim said the suspect is a black man, between 5-foot-6-inches and 5-foot-9-inches tall, the report said.
As of this afternoon, the suspect had not been identified and no arrests had been made, Moore said. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
