Three extension ladders recently were stolen from a construction site on Klondike Road near Hwy. BB in the Hillsboro area where a bridge is being replaced. The incident happened between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Oct. 17, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The three Werner heavy-duty extension ladders, one 16-feet, one 24-feet and the other 32-feet long, were valued at $1,000. They belonged to KCI Construction, Detective Sgt. James Kausler said.
One of the construction company employees reported to the site at about 6 a.m. Oct. 17 and found that padlocks that had secured the ladders at the site were cut and the ladders were gone. In addition, a portable toilet on the site was knocked over, the report said.
A deputy tried to dust for fingerprints, but it looked like the culprit had been wearing gloves. The cut locks were seized as evidence, according to the report.
As of Wednesday (Oct. 26), the ladders had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Kausler said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
