The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of shots fired outside the Walgreens store, 1210 Sugar Creek Square, in unincorporated Fenton. The incident happened about 7:50 p.m. Nov. 11, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sgt. Matthew Moore said three males arrived in one vehicle at the Walgreens after arranging to meet another male to buy a pair of shoes from him there. The three males parked their vehicle some distance from the store, and two of them got out and walked over to another man who was selling the shoes.
“The two male ‘purchasers’ attempted to steal the shoes, and the seller fired gunshots,” Moore said.
The two males ran back to their vehicle with the shoes and while they were leaving the scene, a traffic accident occurred on New Sugar Creek Road, Moore said.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, “a passenger car occupied by a 17-year-old, a 14 year-old and an unknown subject was traveling westbound on Grandview Drive after the car had been shot at and struck at least three times.”
The driver of the car failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Grandview and New Sugar Creek Road, and a van traveling north on New Sugar Creek Road struck the front left side of the car. The front of the car then crossed into the southbound lane of New Sugar Creek Road and struck the front left of a southbound car, the report said.
The driver of the van then exited her vehicle without putting it into park, and the van rolled backwards off the eastside of New Sugar Creek Road and struck a house, the patrol said.
There were no injuries, the report said.
The males who allegedly stole the shoes were interviewed and the shoes were recovered at the scene, Moore said.
He said the male who fired the shots left the area.
“The shooter has not been located as of yet,” Moore said today (Nov. 20).
He said no one has been arrested in the case.
“We still need to locate and speak with the shooter,” Moore said. “The investigation is ongoing,” Moore said.
