The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received reports today (Sept. 23) about windows being shot out of five vehicles as they traveled along or were parked along an approximately 2-mile stretch of Saline Road in the Fenton area.
It looks like a small pellet gun or BB gun was used to shoot out the windows, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.
At about 7:05 a.m. today, the Sheriff’s Office got a call that a person was driving a Ford Escape east on Saline near Willow Creek Road, and suddenly the glass in a back window was shattered, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
About five minutes later, the Sheriff’s Office got a call that a person was headed east in a Honda CRV in the 2000 block of Saline and the driver-side window suddenly was shattered. That driver said a brown Jeep Cherokee was traveling west along Saline at the time, the report said.
While Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene investigating those calls, someone who lives in the area reported that about a week ago he was driving along that stretch of road, and the windshield on his Hummer was shattered, according to the report.
At about 8 a.m. today, the Sheriff’s Office got another call from a man who said he had two vehicles parked in a driveway in the 2900 block of Saline and found rear windows shattered on both of them, the report said.
Fortunately, Arnhart said, no one was hurt during the incidents.
“We’re thankful nobody’s injured and what we’re dealing with right now is just property damage, but if someone’s driving along and that happens, it could startle them and cause them to be involved in a vehicle accident,” he said.
No one in the area reported seeing anyone shooting at vehicles, Arnhart said, so as of about 2 p.m. today, there were no suspect or arrests.
The incidents are still under investigation.
