The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent burglary at the Heights Quick Stop, 1841 Old Hwy. 21, in the Arnold area. The burglary happened just before 3 a.m. July 11, the report said.

Deputies responded to the Quick Stop for an alarm sounding at the business and discovered that the front door had been forced open. A cigarette cabinet door and a cash register drawer also had been forced open, according to the report.

Fifteen cartons of cigarettes, including Marlboro, Newport, L&M and Winston, valued at about $700, were stolen as was about $250 in cash. The damage to the door was estimated at $200, the report said.

In addition, the power to the business had been turned off after someone cut a wire at a utility box outside the building, according to the report.

As of July 17, the stolen cigarettes and cash had not been recovered and there were no suspects or arrests, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
