The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest in connection with the theft of a car from outside a home in the 2300 block of Boyd Branch Road in the De Soto area. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide details about the person of interest.

The victim told deputies the black 2016 Dodge Charger was stolen between Aug. 14 and Sept. 14. The victim also said the car, which had been involved in an accident, was missing a front fender, and he had taken the car to the home for repairs, the report said.

The victim said he paid the homeowner $700 for the repair work, but when the homeowner contacted him for more money to fix the car, he refused to pay. The victim said he went to get the car and was told it had been removed from the property, according to the report.

The Charger is worth an estimated $5,000, the report said.

As of Sept. 29, the car had not been recovered, and no arrests had been made, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the missing car is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
