A 27-year-old De Soto man is suspected of assaulting and hurting a security guard at Fat Boy’s Saloon and Grill, 301 E. Main St., in De Soto. The incident happened about 11:15 p.m. April 20, De Soto Police Chief Joe Edwards said.
The security guard allegedly was assaulted while he was trying to break up a fight, Edwards said.
“While (the security guard was) attempting to keep the peace, (the suspect) struck the security employee from behind and over his head with a wooden pool stick,” Edwards said.
He said the security guard was moderately injured and transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, and the suspect fled the scene.
Later, however, police identified the De Soto man as the suspect, Edwards said.
He said the De Soto Police Department has forwarded a report to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, seeking assault charges against the man.
