Saline Valley Fire responds to May 16 storm aftermath in district, St. Louis city

Saline Valley Fire personnel on May 16 responded to a number of incidents related to storms involving downed trees on roads and power lines around the district.

Saline Valley Fire personnel responded to the aftermath of May 16 afternoon storms within the fire district and in the city of St. Louis.

Fire Marshal Ryan Lesh said the district checked out reports of downed trees blocking roads and falling on power lines throughout the district, among them Romaine Creek, Saline, Diehl and Old Sugar Creek roads.

“We were out for hours within our district assessing damage, clearing roads and ensuring power line were checked and notifying Ameren,” he said.

He said members of the district’s USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) Strike Team 5 responded to St. Louis City to help assess damage and check structures.

“Fire crews were in service in St. Louis city until midnight on (May 16),” Lesh said.
