Rock Community firefighters put out fire in car engine at First Baptist Church of Arnold

Rock Community firefighters recently put out a fire in a car engine at First Baptist Church of Arnold.

Rock Community firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that started in a car’s engine outside the First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road. No one was injured in the fire, said Alyson Barton, spokeswoman for the Rock Community Fire Protection District.

Rock Fire was called at 2:05 p.m. Sept. 15 about the fire in the engine of a Toyota Corolla. The first firetruck arrived at 2:12 p.m., and firefighters quickly put out the blaze, the report said.

The scene was cleared at 2:27 p.m., according to the report.

A 62-year-old Imperial woman was driving the Corolla when she saw smoke coming from the engine. She pulled into the church’s parking lot and called 911, Arnold Police reported.

The driver was the only person in the Corolla. The cause of the engine fire was ruled accidental, but it is unknown what started the fire, according to the report.

Arnold Police also responded to the scene.
