Eureka Police allegedly found more than 150 pill capsules in a car that an officer stopped because the license plate bulb was burnt out. Officers arrested a 29-year-old woman and 69-year-old woman, both of Robertsville, police reported.
At about 9:35 p.m. Jan. 1, the officer stopped the 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt because he could not see the license plate. The younger woman was driving, and she was arrested because she was driving with a revoked license, the report said.
Before getting out of the car, the driver gave her purse to the older woman. When police searched the purse, they allegedly found a bag that a white powdery substance inside it, according to the report.
Officers then searched the car and found a bag on the passenger’s side floorboard. In the bag, there were loose pills, a container with more pills and another container with a crystal-like substance inside it, the report said.
The older woman allegedly told the officers the bag on the car’s floor belonged to her, according to the report.
The women were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending the application for warrants, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the women through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
