The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of an SUV left on the side of Hwy. 21 near Tree Ridge Trail south of Hillsboro. The owner had left the 2014 Lincoln MKT on the side of the highway after a tire went flat at about 8:50 p.m. March 26, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The owner said she locked the SUV and took the keys after parking it on the side of the highway and then discovered it missing at about 3:20 p.m. March 27. The Sheriff’s Office checked with several towing companies and none had reported towing away the Lincoln, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office does not provide approximate values for stolen vehicles.
As of March 29, the SUV had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
