A riding lawn mower, tools, golf clubs and other items recently were stolen from a home in the 1800 block of Hunter Road in the Festus area while the victim was gone for a short time. The theft happened between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. July 25, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Stolen items included a yellow 2016 Cub Cadet riding mower; a green John Deere generator; a Stihl chainsaw; a red golf bag with a Top Flite golf club set inside; a gray golf bag with a Ping Eye club and a tan tackle box. Altogether, the items were valued at about $4,383. The items were on the victim’s open garage port when they were stolen, the report said.

The victim told deputies that when she left her home, she noticed a maroon Ford Escape parked near a black trailer in her neighborhood. A neighbor told deputies that she saw a maroon SUV and a silver car pull onto their street and then later speed away, according to the report.

As of Aug. 10, the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
