major case squad of greater st. louis

Human remains recently found in Franklin County were of a Jefferson County man – Vincent S. White, 50, of High Ridge, the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis reports.

The remains were found Jan. 10 in a burn pile at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Chouteau Claim Access Area near the confluence of the Meramec and Bourbeuse rivers, authorities reported.

White apparently had been dismembered and only some parts of his body were among the remains found at the access area, said Capt. Gary Higginbotham of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Higginbotham also is deputy commander with the Major Case Squad.

He said DNA samples were used to identify the man.

Higginbotham said today (Jan. 27) that it’s too early to know how the man was killed.

He also said there’s an investigation underway into the “suspicious death” and that no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Major Case Squad at 636-797-5515.
