Reed B. Ludwig, 46, of House Springs has been sentenced to seven years in prison for violating the terms of his probation. He had previously pleaded guilty to three separate possession of a control substance charges, court records show.
Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey on Sept. 24 revoked Ludwig’s probation. She ordered him to serve seven years for each of the drug violations, but the sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time, according to court documents.
Ludwig most recently was charged with possession of a controlled substance on July 29 following a November 2023 arrest. He had been stopped for speeding in the 3400 block of Old Sugar Creek Road in High Ridge and was arrested for driving with a revoked license, the case’s probable cause statement said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy also found a bag that contained methamphetamine in Ludwig’s pocket at the time of that arrest, the report said.
Ludwig currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 29 in Jefferson County Circuit Court for the July drug charge, court records said.
Ludwig was on five years’ probation following arrests in Jefferson County in March 2017 and two arrests in April 2019 for drug possession, according to court documents.
He was first arrest on March 25, 2017, when he was walking near the intersection of West Dry Fork Road and Old Hwy. 21 in House Springs. A Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped him after receiving a suspicious person walking in the area, the case’s probable-cause statement said.
When the deputy searched Ludwig, he found syringes and a white crystal-like substance in Ludwig’s pocket, the report said.
Ludwig on March 25, 2017, pleaded guilty to a possession charge and was sentenced to seven years in prison. However, that sentence was suspended, and he was placed on five years’ probation, court records said.
Ludwig was then arrested on April 3 and April 18, 2019.
He was first arrested that month when the vehicle he was driving was stopped for not having proper license plates in the 4600 block of Gravois Road in House Springs. After being pulled over, he handed a box containing marijuana and a smoking device with residue to the Sheriff’s Office deputy, the probable-cause statement said.
The deputy also found a bag with a crystal-like substance in Ludwig’s pocket and a coffee can with three bags of marijuana and a digital scale in the vehicle, the report said.
Ludwig was arrested on April 18, 2019, at a home in the 5900 block of Parkedge Drive in House Springs after the Sheriff’s Office was told drugs were being sold at the house. Deputies found a pill container with a crystal-like substance in it and there was a bag of marijuana buried in a cat litter box in the home, the case’s probable cause statement said.
Ludwig pleaded guilty to the two counts of possession of controlled substance on Dec. 21, 2020, and he was sentenced to seven years in prison for each charge. The sentences were to be served concurrently, but he was released on probation after completing a 120-day shock incarceration, court documents said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay E. Whalen prosecuted the probation violation cases.
