Eureka Police are trying to get in touch with four people who reportedly live at a home on Golden Circle in High Ridge in connection with the theft of a purse, iPhone and Apple watch from a nursing facility. GPS was used to track the phone to the High Ridge home, police reported.
The phone and other items belong to a 75-year-old Eureka woman. They were stolen from her room at the Marymount Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, 313 Augustine Road, the report said.
The woman’s son, a 44-year-old High Ridge man, said he discovered the items missing when he visited her on Aug. 7. The items were valued at about $845, according to the report.
The man said he contacted the Marymount Manor staff and some of the victim’s other family members and friends to see if anyone knew where the missing items were. When they could not find them, the son reported them stolen on Aug. 16, the report said.
The man told police he used an iCloud account to track his mother’s phone, and on Aug. 15, the GPS system showed the phone was at the High Ridge home. He also said the phone had been deactivated since then, Eureka Police reported.
As of Aug. 26, the missing items had not been recovered, and police had not yet contacted anyone from the High Ridge home about the theft, Lt. Michael Tapp said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
