Eureka Police are investigating the theft of items worth about $1,000 from three vehicles at Midwest Motors, 1400 S. Outer Road. The culprit also allegedly caused about $1,500 in damage to three vehicles at the dealership, police reported.

Surveillance video reportedly showed a man drive a Chevrolet Impala with no license plates on it to the business at about 3:30 p.m. Nov. 25. Then the man could be seen getting out of the car and allegedly lifting door handles on multiple vehicles on the lot, the report said.

The man allegedly opened the door to a GMC 3500 and cut a subwoofer out of the backseat area and put it into the Impala. The man then drove away, but he returned about 20 minutes later and allegedly opened a door to a Chevrolet Suburban, which had been left at the business for repairs, and took an air impact hammer out of the SUV, according to the report.

He then allegedly used the hammer to smash the rear window in a Ford F-350. He rifled through the pickup, but nothing was reported stolen from the pickup, Eureka Police reported.

Then the man allegedly broke out the front passenger-side window of a Ford Ranger and went through that pickup. Nothing was reported stolen from the Ranger, the report said.

Next, the man reportedly broke out the front passenger-side window of a Ford F-250 and took out the pickup’s radio and damaged the dashboard. He then allegedly stole a toolbox from the customer’s Suburban and left the business, according to the report.

As of Dec. 2, the man had not been identified, and none of the stolen items had been recovered, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
