Authorities are looking for the men who reportedly pointed guns at a 17-year-old Hillsboro man and stole his car early Monday morning (May 27). The teenager was washing his car at a self-serve carwash near the intersection of Third Street and Business 21 in Hillsboro when it was stolen, Hillsboro Police administrator Steve Meinberg said.

The incident happened at 12:25 a.m. at the Arras Carwash, 10556 Business 21, authorities reported.

“He was washing his car in a bay at the carwash – it’s the kind of carwash where you spray the car,” Meinberg said. “(The victim) said two guys pulled up in a dark car and pointed firearms at him. They jumped out of their car, demanded his keys and wallet.”

The victim complied, and the suspects drove off in both vehicles, Meinberg said.

He said the stolen car was a 2008 Pontiac.

“The vehicle was located about three hours later in south St. Louis near Germania and Morganford,” Meinberg said “It had been involved in an accident. The suspects fled the scene. There were four in the vehicle. Three got away, but one was in custody.”

Meinberg said the stolen vehicle was totaled. He did not have a value for the car.

Anyone with information is urged to call Hillsboro Police at 797-3334.
