jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado with about $15,000 worth of tools in it reportedly was stolen from outside a home on High Hill Lane southwest of Festus. The pickup was valued at about $6,000, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The victim said he parked his pickup truck outside his home at about 8:30 p.m. March 15. He said he discovered it was gone at about 10:30 p.m. that same day, the report said.

The victim didn’t know if he had locked the pickup’s doors, according to the report.

As of March 24, neither the Silverado nor any of the tools had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
