A pickup stolen in Ste. Genevieve County was found later on the parking lot at the Comfort Inn, 1303 Veterans Blvd. (Hwy. A), in Festus, said Tim Lewis, Festus Police chief.
He said he didn’t know when the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado was stolen, but it was recovered about 6 p.m. Sept. 17 outside the Festus hotel. The vehicle has been returned to the owner, Lewis said.
“When officers got there, they talked to the victim – a 28-year-old man, town not known – and he had gotten a phone call telling him his 2019 Chevy Colorado was parked on the rear parking lot of the Comfort Inn. It had been reported stolen from an address on Hwy. 61, the 10000 block, in Ste. Genevieve County.”
Lewis said the pickup did not appear damaged.
“We called the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff’s Office and they sent up deputies to process the vehicle and return it to the victim,” Lewis said.
On Sept. 22, Lewis said no arrests were made at the scene, and the Ste. Genevieve Sheriff’s Office is handling the ongoing investigation.
