A pickup stolen from outside Northwest Valley Middle School in House Springs was later found destroyed about 3 miles away. It had been burned, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 7:10 a.m. Aug. 23, the Northwest R-1 School District reported the 2006 Ford F-350 missing from the middle school, 4300 Gravois Road. The theft was reported after a district employee found a mangled gate in the middle of the school’s rear parking lot and a chain link gate disconnected from a post at the bay where the pickup had been parked, the report said.
The heavy-duty pickup with a dump bed was found at about 3 p.m. Aug. 23 burned and on the side of a gravel road near Cripple Creek Road in House Springs, according to the report.
The pickup was valued at $34,000, and the damage to the fence was estimated at $1,500, the report said.
As of Sept. 2, no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
