An unlocked pickup was stolen and windows were smashed on two other vehicles parked outside the Legends Parkway Shopping Plaza in Eureka. Items were stolen from the two vehicles that were broken into, Eureka Police reported.

Officers were called at about 8:10 p.m. July 29 to the shopping plaza when a 45-year-old House Springs man reported his blue 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 was stolen after he parked it near Hi-NRG Gymnastix, 54 the Legends Parkway. He said he had arrived at about 8 p.m. and left the keys in the pickup when he went inside the gymnastics business, the report said.

He said when he left the business about 10 minutes later, his pickup was gone. The Silverado was valued at about $45,000, according to the report.

Two women told officers windows were smashed on their vehicles – a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2004 GMC Yukon, the report said.

Two purses were stolen from the Cruze, including one that belonged to the driver, a 19-year-old Pacific woman, and another that belonged to a 19-year-old Eureka woman. The driver’s purse contained about $100 worth of items, and the other purse contained about $20 worth of items, according to the report.

The 53-year-old De Soto woman who drove the Yukon to the Eureka plaza said a Nike backpack with clothes in it was stolen from that vehicle. Altogether, the bag and its contents were valued at about $300, the report said.

As of Aug. 13, the Silverado and none of the other items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
