Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are investigating damage to a pickup that looked like it happened when someone tried to steal a tire off the vehicle. The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. Aug. 2 outside the Holiday Inn St. Louis West at Six Flags, police reported.

Police were called to the hotel, 4901 Six Flags Road, after a 63-year-old Spiro, Okla., man, found his 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 parked at an odd angle in one of the lot’s spots. The man also found about $500 in damage to the rear of his pickup that looked like it was caused by someone trying to steal the rear passenger-side tire off the vehicle, the report said.

It appeared the pickup fell off a jack after someone removed the tire. The pickup landed on the tire and damaged the pickup’s wheel well and rear fender, according to the report.

Police believe the victim was able to put the tire back on the pickup and drive it from the scene, Capt. David Wilson said.

As of Aug. 13, no suspects had been identified, Wilson said.
