The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of tools worth about $5,100 from Accurate Asphalt Paving Co. in unincorporated Fenton. A pickup, trailer and ATV also were stolen from the business, 2291 S. Old Hwy. 141, but they were recovered not far from the business, authorities reported.
Deputies were called at about 6 a.m. March 1 after a 2019 Ford F-550 was discovered missing from a fenced-in lot outside the paving company. The gate to the lot had been locked at about 2 p.m. Feb. 28, but it looked like someone cut the lock to get inside, the report said.
Deputies found the stolen pickup at about 12:15 p.m. March 1 in the 2600 block of Old Hwy. 141. A trailer hauling a Yamaha ATV was attached to the pickup, and the victim said the items also belonged to him and he hadn’t previously noticed they were missing, the report said.
Other items stolen from the business included a Bosch roto hammer, DeWalt cordless hammer drill, Makita hammer drill, Stihl demo saw, cutting torch, ABW compactor and two Stihl chainsaws. The company’s building was locked and no windows were broken during the theft, according to the report.
As of March 4, the tools had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
