The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a pickup from a detached garage at a home in the 8400 block of Old Hwy. 21 north of Hillsboro. A .22-caliber Browning rifle and .38-caliber Browning revolver were in the gray 2000 GMC Sierra when it was stolen, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The theft occurred between Oct. 25 and Oct. 30 when someone broke a window in the garage and stole the pickup. The victim came home at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 and found the door to the garage open, the report said.
The pickup was valued at about $5,000, but no estimate for the guns was provided, according to the report.
As of Nov. 10, neither the Sierra nor the guns had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
