Corie Jean Broten, 40, of Pevely has been charged with two felonies for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend. The victim, a 45-year-old St. Louis man, underwent surgery and is expected to survive, Pevely Police Capt. Larry Miller reported today (May 15).
The alleged stabbing happened Tuesday (May 12) at the Pevely Pointe Apartments. Pevely Police got a call at about 6:05 p.m. about a domestic assault at the apartment complex.
“Upon law enforcement arrival, officers located the victim, who was stabbed and bleeding from his abdomen, just underneath his sternum,” Miller said. “The victim was immediately transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis (in Creve Coeur) due to his injuries. Officers were able to obtain a suspect name from witnesses on scene and canvassed the area. The officers quickly located the suspect, who was inside another apartment located in the 900 block of Pevely Pointe Drive.”
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident, Miller said.
Broten was charged Wednesday (May 13) with first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury, a class A felony punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a minimum sentence of three years in prison.
She was being held today in the Jefferson County Jail on a $20,000 cash-only bond.
