A 28-year-old Pevely woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after she allegedly almost hit a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle in House Springs. Deputies used spike strips to stop the pickup the woman was driving, authorities reported.
On May 25, deputies were called to the 7000 block of Justamere Hill Drive in House Springs because a black 2017 Ford F-250 was stolen and had a gun inside it. While responding, deputies also received reports of the pickup driving recklessly in the area, the report said.
Deputies located the pickup on Lower Byrnes Mill Road and attempted to stop it. However, the woman allegedly kept driving and nearly hit one of the deputies’ vehicles, according to the report.
The deputies did not pursue the pickup, but another deputy saw the F-250 turn onto eastbound Hwy. MM from Main Street. The deputy followed the pickup on the highway, and other deputies set up a spike strip on Hwy. MM, the report said.
The pickup went over the spike strip and became disabled near Buckeye Valley Road. The F-250 was traveling at about 25 mph when it went over the spike strip, according to the report.
The woman allegedly appeared to be intoxicated, and deputies suspected she had used an illegal narcotic. She was arrested and taken to Jefferson County Jail, where she was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for DWI, but it may apply for additional charges against the woman, spokesman Grant Bissell said on June 10.
