Eureka Police arrested a 28-year-old Pevely woman after stopping the SUV she was driving on Hwy. 109. Officers had learned the woman’s license had been suspended, and she allegedly had been seen swerving while driving on Hwy. 109, police reported.
Officers at about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 5 saw the woman continually get in and out of a 2008 Dodge Caliber while parked outside of the QuikTrip gas station, 290 E. Fourth St. When the officers checked the SUV’s license plate, they learned the woman’s driver’s license was suspended and she was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for an active warrant, the report said.
The woman drove away from the gas station before the officers could approach her. The officers followed the SUV on Hwy. 109, and they allegedly saw the Caliber swerve on the road before stopping the woman, according to the report.
The woman did not have a driver’s license, and she allegedly said she didn’t have a Missouri driver’s license because it was being held by another law enforcement agency, the report said.
The woman then gave the officers permission to search the SUV, and they allegedly found a jacket that had a syringe with a liquid in it, an empty syringe and a bag with a white crystal-like substance in one of the pockets, according to the report.
The woman told the officers the jacket belonged to a friend. However, she was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Michael Werges said.
