Pevely Police are seeking a man who reportedly tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to buy something at the Mr. Fuel gas station and convenience store. An employee identified the $100 bill as counterfeit and would not accept it, and the man used a debit card to complete the purchase, Chief Mark Glenn said.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 a.m. Feb. 18 at the business, 8015 Weier Road, Glenn said.
He said the man left the store after making his purchase without asking the employee to give back the $100 bill. Investigating officers examined the $100 bill and determined it was fake because there was printing on the bill stating it was for motion picture use only.
Glenn said the Secret Service was notified about the incident.
