Andrew Joseph Curtis McCall, 21, of Pevely has been charged with five felonies in connection with the theft of two vehicles, as well as the theft of items from vehicles in the Hardwood Hills subdivision off Riverview Drive in Pevely. When authorities arrested McCall for the alleged offenses, they also ended up arresting several other people on alleged drug violations, Pevely Police reported.

Overnight between Dec. 20 and Dec. 21, McCall reportedly stole a 2018 Dodge Ram pickup parked in the 900 block of Creekview Court, which is in the Hardwood Hills subdivision. He allegedly was stealing items from vehicles in the subdivision before he stole the pickup, drove it to St. Louis and back to Pevely, leaving it parked in the 1900 block of Andrew Street, where police later recovered it, the probable-cause statement in the case said.

McCall allegedly stole change from the pickup, as well as items from an unlocked 2011 Dodge Caliber parked in the 900 block of Creekview Court. The items stolen from the Caliber included a cell phone and a Coach purse that contained identification and debit cards, and McCall allegedly used one of the cards to transfer $50 to a Facebook Pay account and then used the money to buy drugs, the report said.

The next day McCall allegedly stole another vehicle parked in the 900 block of Creekview Court, and that vehicle contained identification, a hunting permit, a prescription and other items that later were found in the residence where McCall was arrested, according to the report.

Pevely Police Capt. Larry Miller said McCall was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Dec. 21 at an apartment on Pevely Square Drive. McCall does not live at the apartment.

While arresting McCall, police also arrested a 21-year-old Pevely woman, a 27-year-old Pevely man, a 30-year-old Pevely woman and a 30-year-old St. Louis man who were in the apartment. They were arrested for various alleged drug violations and as of Jan. 25 had not been charged, Miller said.

McCall, however, has been charged with two counts of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and three counts of stealing, each one a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.

He was being held Jan. 25 in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 surety bond.

Miller said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed against McCall.
