Pevely Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 6, on the Mr. Fuel Travel Center parking lot. At least one person was shot and sent to the hospital with serious injuries, Pevely Police Chief Mark Glenn said today, Sept. 7, in a written statement.
He said the Pevely Police Department received a call at approximately 4:10 p.m. about the shooting at the gas station and convenience store, 8915 Weier Road.
While enroute, officers learned that two vehicles had fled the scene, and during the investigation, witnesses told police they heard several gunshots prior to the vehicles speeding away from the scene, the report said.
When officers were on the scene, a local hospital contacted Pevely Police at about 4:30 p.m. saying a man was being treated there for a gunshot wound, Glenn said in a phone interview.
Glenn said investigating officers obtained a description of a vehicle involved in the shooting and tentative identification of a juvenile “who may be involved in the incident.” However, he would not give specific details about the suspect or the vehicle, except to say officers located the vehicle in Pevely early today.
He said no arrests had been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to call Pevely Police at 636-475-5301 and ask for Glenn or Detective Mark Lockett.
