Festus Police on Oct. 7 arrested a man accused of striking and injuring another man with a bicycle chain.
The incident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South Adams Street, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“A 42-year-old man was walking with his girlfriend when a 46-year-old man on a bicycle struck him several times with a bike chain,” Lewis said. “Officers arrested the suspect a short time later (in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex).”
The victim was taken for treatment by Joachim Plattin Ambulance to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City, he said.
“He had extensive injuries,” Lewis said.
He said the suspect was booked and released pending issuance of a warrant.
