Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police cited a 62-year-old Leslie man for assault March 4, following a dispute over a parking space at the Eureka Chamber of Commerce’s 10th annual Garage Sale and Swap Meet, held at Six Flags.

The incident occurred about 9:56 p.m. and started with a 39-year-old woman from Catawissa attempting to save a parking space for her mother, Eureka Police Lt. David Wilson said.

As the woman was standing in the open spot, the Leslie man allegedly started backing into the space, despite the woman repeatedly yelling for him to stop. The woman even reportedly struck the back of the man’s truck to alert him of her presence, Wilson said.

The man was looking at her as he backed into the spot and struck her, and when police took his statement, the man said, “Yep, I hit her,” Wilson said.

The woman was not injured, and the man was issued a summons at the scene for assault in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
