About 10 months after Joseph R. Parchman, 31, of High Ridge was sentenced to 15 years in prison following assault and burglary charges, the prison term was set aside, and instead he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, according to court records.
A St. Peters man arranged to meet Parchman and sell him methamphetamine on Feb. 21, 2014, and after the St. Peters man arrived at an apartment complex in the 2800 block of Schumacher Lane, where Parchman lived, the man got out of his vehicle and started toward the apartments, but Parchman suddenly appeared from behind and stabbed him and took the meth, the probable-cause statement said.
The St. Peters man was cut on his right arm and left side of his face and was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County for treatment, the report said.
Just a few days earlier, on Feb. 15, Parchman unlawfully entered a building in the 8800 block of Central Point Road in Hillsboro for the purpose of stealing, according to the report.
Parchman pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and second-degree burglary, and in September 2014, Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy Cardona sentenced him to 15 years for assault and three years for burglary. The terms were to be served concurrently, or at the same time, court papers show.
In December 2014, though, Parchman filed a motion to set aside the judgment, and on July 15, Cardona set the sentence aside and then sentenced Parchman to 12 years for the assault charge. That term also is to be served concurrent with the three-year term.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob T. Costello handled the case.
Parchman currently is in the South Central Correctional Center in Licking.
