A paddle boat, trolling motors, fishing gear and other items recently were stolen from a cabin in the 5400 block of Ems Road in the Hillsboro area. The burglary happened between 5 p.m. July 31 and 4 p.m. Aug. 1, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Someone cut a lock off the gate to the property and then cut a lock off the front door to get inside the cabin. Items were stolen from both inside and outside the cabin, the report said.
In addition to a Sun Dolphin paddle boat and trolling motors, stolen items included fishing rods and reels; other fishing equipment; a deer decoy; a deer skull; lawn chairs and box fans. Altogether, the items were valued at $1,500, according to the report.
As of Aug. 9, the stolen items had not been recovered, and there were no suspects or arrests, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said. He urges anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
