A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy allegedly found illegal drugs in a car a 54-year-old Pacific man was driving after arresting the man on active warrants. The deputy stopped the man for allegedly speeding, police reported.

The deputy on April 13 stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Impala on John McKeever Road near Cedar Vally Lane west of Byrnes Mill. The man driving the car told the deputy he was wanted on warrants, and after the deputy confirmed the active warrants, he arrested the man, the report said,

When the deputy searched the Impala, he allegedly found substances suspected of being illegal narcotics, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was held on his warrants, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Matt Moore said.
